The North and East Neighborhood Council’s Planning and Zoning Committee works to ensure a high quality of life and prosperity for North and East residents, businesses and institutions. The committee seeks to promote current and future development in a manner which fosters the sense of a balanced, prosperous and harmonious community.
The committee reviews applications from residents and businesses who are building or adding to a local property and then makes recommendations to the Neighborhood Council for approval. Once approved, the recommendations are forwarded to the Richmond Design Review Board and/or Planning Department for consideration during the project review process. The recommendations are published in the monthly N&E newsletters.
We encourage applicants to meet with us early in the design process to avoid delays or requests for significant revisions to design proposals. Please contact the committee Chair to place your project on our monthly meeting agenda. We ask that applicants provide the committee with several sets of 11×17 drawings (site plan, floor plan, roof plan, exterior elevations, section) and one set of photographs of existing conditions.
